After inspecting a knit-dyeing factory found different irregularities, an inspector of the environment department office Narayanganj filed a case with the environment special court here.

According to the prosecution story the petitioner inspector Habibur Rahman mentioned that the quality textile dyeing factory has no valid license since 2017, does not use effluent treatment plant (ETP), polluting water, air and sound.

The court issued a warrant against the lone accused of the factory’s managing director Probir Kumar Roy in recording the case number-51 of 2022. Police arrested Probir Kumar Roy on July 25 and produced before the court. The court granted his bail plea, court inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed.

Petitioner Habibur Rahman stated his case story that the factory authority received an environment license on 29 September 2016 for one year and later did not renew.

The monitoring and enforcement department of the environment directorate fined the dyeing factory 6,64,320 taka on February 25,2018 due to liquid waste discharge directly to the canal. But the factory authority so far paid 2 lakh taka and the rest amount is due till now.

Quality textile dyeing factory is situated in a residential area at Deobhog Banglabazar under Sadar upazila in Narayanganj. The conscious citizens raise questions about how the factory got a license in a residential area.

The quality textile dyeing is a new name since 2016 but it had been run as united dyeing since 1993 ignoring the law of environment.
