A case was filed against former Member of Parliament (MP) of Raojan Upazila in Chattogram, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, along with 26 others, on charge of attempted murder, kidnapping and extortion.
Former Union Parishad (UP) Chairman of Paschimgujra union, Sirjauddoula, filed the case in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Chattogram Golam Sarwar on Monday.
The lawyer of the plaintiff Sabuj Talukdar said the court accepted the plaintiff’s complaint and instructed Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case. Among the accused, there were Paschimgujra UP Chairman Sabuddin Arif, Sujatul Islam Fahim, Tony Barua, Liton Dey, Md Anwar, Md Masud, Azam Khan, Md Saddam, Salauddin Mintu, Saiful Islam (Liton), Abu Tyeb, Md Jamal, Angshuman Barua, Abdul Mannan, Md Arif, Md Sajjad, Md Habibur Rahman, Arif Islam Rubel, Md Ismail, Md Dulal, Md Rafiq, Md Kamal, Abdul Aziz, Md Aslam, Md Faruq, Md Tanvir and others.
All of them are residents of Paschimgujra union in Raozan Upazila except the main accused. They are known as the associates of former MP Fazle Karim in the area, said the plaintiff.
In the complaint, the plaintiff said that he was kidnapped and abducted from his house by the order of Fazle Karim on September 12 in 2022. The accused also vandalized and looted his house at that time. Later, they confined the plaintiff in a room far away from his house. They stripped him and sent a picture to Fazle Karim. Later, firearms and bullets were brought to the plaintiff at that night. He was handed over to the police with the firearms and bullets on the next morning. Later, the plaintiff was sent to jail in arms case.
UP Chairman Sirajuddoula said the accused tried to kill him after kidnapping him. Later, a fake arms case was filed against him. He even paid ransom to save himself from the accused, but he was not spared. Sirajuddoula claimed hundreds of people in Raozon were victims of Fazle Karim’s oppression like him. They could not say anything till now. Now, they want Fazle Karim to be brought under justice.
