Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Friday inaugurated a car-free road in the capital’s Uttara area. The Mayor opened the Sonargaon Janapath Road around 9am, said ASM Mamun, public relation officer of DNCC. Children, guardians as well as the DNCC Mayor participated in various games there in the morning.
“Soon, we’ll recover the fields in the city from illegal occupation,” Atiqul said, adding that some 25 percent children suffer from depression. He also said that about 80 percent children pass times playing games and watching videos on mobile phone. DNCC Mayor said children should be involved with physical exercise for their mental and physical development. Local MP Advocate Sahara Khatun was present, among others.
