The body of Biman Bangladesh Airlines pilot Captain Nawshad Ataul Quaiyum has been laid to rest at Banani graveyard beside his mother and sister’s graves.
His body was buried at 3pm on Thursday.
His namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) was held at 2pm on Thursday at the headquarters of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Kurmitola.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali took part in the janaza. Captain Nawshad’s close relatives and friends including officers and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines also took part in the janaza.
Earlier on Thursday morning, the body of Captain Nawshad reached Dhaka from India's Nagpur.
The State Minister for Civil Aviation, top officials of the ministry, Biman and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and leaders of Bangladesh Airlines' Pilot Association were present at the airport to show their last respect to the pilot.
Captain Nawshad suffered a massive heart attack mid-air while piloting the Dhaka-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Muscat. He breathed his last on Monday at a hospital in India while undergoing treatment. He was 44.
