The Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Ajit Singh, paid an official visit to Chattogram Port on Tuesday.
He was warmly received by Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah, Member (Harbours and Marine) of the Chattogram Port Authority. Accompanying the High Commissioner were Senior Trade Commissioner Debra Boyce and Political Counsellor Marco Davis.
During the visit, High Commissioner Singh held a discussion with Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah, exchanging views on the port’s operations and future prospects. He expressed satisfaction with the port’s current operational capacity, ongoing development initiatives, and robust security measures.
Mr Singh assured of Canada’s continued cooperation in various areas, including digitalisation, human resource development, and enhancing the export of Canadian goods to Bangladesh. He was also presented with an overview of Chattogram Port’s future development plans.
Following the courtesy meeting, the Canadian delegation toured the port’s operational zones and commended the efficiency and progress achieved in recent years. Both delegations expressed optimism that the visit would help elevate Bangladesh-Canada relations, particularly in the maritime and trade sectors centred around Chattogram Port.
Also present during the visit were trade and political officials from both nations, along with Chattogram Port Secretary Mohammad Omar Faruq.
