President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Sunday took oath (Scout Promise) as the Chief Scout.
Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts Dr. Md. MozammelHaque Khan administered the oath and adorned the president with scout badge at Bangabhaban this noon.
President Shahabuddin was also awarded the distinctive Scout scarf by Bangladesh Scouts President MdAbulKalam Azad.
Later, the Bangladesh Scouts president and chief national commissioner briefed President Shahabuddin on the overall activi
ties of Bangladesh Scouts.
President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam, Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin, Secretary attached Md. Wahidul Islam Khan and Scouts leaders were present at the event.
President called for imparting advanced training on information technology to scouts.
Appreciating the role of scouts during natural disasters and national emergency, Shahabuddin said that they should be given advanced training with information technology so that they can involve themselves in any needs of the country.
The president asked the scout leaders to take necessary steps in this regard.
Noting that ethics and morals are very important in imparting education in scout activities, the president said scouting can also play a positive role in creating the ideological foundation of boys and girls.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman initiated the scout movement in the country through an ordinance in 1972. The movement has now spread across the country.
Leadership development at every level is very important to move the country forward on the path of development and progress and build 'a smart Bangladesh', he observed.
After the initiation ceremony, Bangladesh Scouts President Md. AbulKalam Azad and Chief National Commissioner Dr. Md. MozammelHaque Khan also briefed President about the overall activities of Bangladesh Scouts.
