Call to ensure rights of the disabled people

A views exchange meeting on disabled persons under the project of `Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabled (PRPD)’ was held under the auspices of Protyasha Samazik Unnoyon Sangstha at Hotel Red Chilly in Chuadanag district town on Sunday. 

The meeting was presided over by Billal Hossain, Executive Director of Protyasha Samazik Unnoyon Sangstha while Jahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police, was present as the chief guest. The meeting was addressed among others by Sardar Al Amin, President of Chuadanga Press Club, Manik Akbar, President of Chuadanga District Press Club, RajibHasan Kochi, General Secretary of Chuadanga Press Club and Mohammad Mohosin, OC of Chuadanga Police Station. 

Local journalists took part at the views exchange meeting. Younus Ali, Project Coordinator of PRPD presented key note paper through multi-media. After presenting the key note paper, journalists took part in the views exchange meeting. Journalists Nazmul Hoque Swapon, MM Alauddin, Shah Alam Sony, Rifat Rahman, MA Mamun, Kamruzzaman Chand and others spoke on the issue. 

According to the discussion, a total of 4,069 disabled people have been taken under the project. Cash Tk 7,500 was given to 425 disabled people, Tk 7,000 to 456 disabled persons, wheel chair and other equipment to 143 disabled persons and swing machine to 25 persons. 

On the other hand 49,000 masks, 4,750 bottles of hand sanitizers and food items worth Tk 300,000 were distributed among them. 

Jahidul Islam, SP, said the government has taken various programmes on the issue of disabled people. For this reason NGOs like Protyasha has been working for the disabled people to help the government programme. He hoped that both groups working jointly will bring good result and progress to the nation.
