Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (BSMRMU) organized a seminar on “Challenges of Ocean Governance in Bangladesh” at the auditorium of its campus at Pallabi of Mirpur in the capital on Thursday, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor of BSMRMU Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal spoke at the seminar as the chief guest. Rear Admiral (Retd) Muhammad Anwarul Islam and Golam Shafiuddin, Additional Secretary of Blue Economy Cell, presented their papers at the seminar. Dean of FMGP, BSMRMU Commodore M Ziauddin Alamgir moderated the seminar.
M Khaled Iqbal in his speech expressed his hope that maritime professionals should come forward to ensure a sound ocean governance in the huge maritime area of Bangladesh.
The speakers discussed about various aspects of ocean governance and also prescribed different ways to overcome governance challenges.
The seminar was attended by teachers, students and officials from different departments of the University and they participated spontaneously.
