Call to bring some amendments to RTI act

 Speakers at a discussion put some recommendations to involve the businessmen, political leaders and activists and media people under the Right to Information (RTI) act to provide services as required by any citizen. They also call to bring some recommendation to the RTI act.

Jhenidah district administration and Committee for Concern Citizen (CCC) jointly arranged the discussion on Sunday marking the International Day of Rights to Information. Earlier, they brought out a colourful rally in the district town.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Arif Uz Zaman led the rally. He also attended the discussion as chief guest at the Muktomanch at old DC court ground.

Representatives of different government institutions, CCC, Committee to Prevent Corruption, Shujan, Yes Group and students from various educational institution and journalists participated in the rally and discussion meeting.

Additional district magistrate (ADM) Rabiul Islam, district information officer Abu Bakar Siddique, Jhenidah Sadar police station officer in charge (investigation) Mohsin Hossain, CCC president Saidul Alam and NM Shahjalal among others spoke.

The speakers said that patriotism is the main weapon to enact information rights laws and the people have every access to it. Each and everybody of the government and other sectors, especially, the service providers should be aware on the issue ensuring transparency and accountability, they said.
