Call for promoting innovative skills of technical students

Speakers at a views-exchange meeting called for developing creativity of technical students and promoting their innovative skills, saying that it can play a positive role in accelerating socio-economic progress of the country.

The views-exchange meeting was held at the Rangpur Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Rangpur city on the occasion the Technical and Vocational Education Week-2023.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangpur Dr. Chitra Lekha Nazneen attended the event as the chief guest, while Rangpur Regional Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Directorate of Technical Education Khandaker Md. Nahid Hasan attended the event as a special guest with RPI Principal Engineer Md Fariduddin Ahmed in the chair. Earlier, a 'Technical Fair and Skills Competition' on the theme 'Smart Education, Smart Country and Bangladesh of Sheikh Hasina' was inaugurated on the RPI campus. 

BSS adds: The 'Technical Fair and Skills Competition' was arranged under the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project being implemented by the Technical and Madrasah Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

 The main objective of arranging the events is aimed at promoting the popularity of technical education and developing the talent and innovative power of technical and vocational students.   Governmen officials, Vice-principal of RPI Engineer Md Tazul Islam, Principals, Vice-principals and teachers and students of 14 public and private technical and vocational educational institutions from across the district were present. 

The speakers stressed developing the creativity of technical students to promote their innovative skills and produce skilled workforces for facing the challenges to implement the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) in the competitive 21st century. 

They also discussed the importance of technical and vocational education in gaining skills, abilities and competencies by young generations as tools to adapt to the real work situation and contribute to national development. Principal Fariduddin Ahmed said technical and vocational education has become popular with increasing admission rate as per the government's call to produce skilled technical workforces, engineers, planners and architects for building a developed nation.

The chief guest stressed promoting smart education to produce smart and skilled human resources for making the 4IR a success.
