Saiful Islam Roman, Central Organiser of the NCP youth wing ‘Jatiyo Juboshokti’ and a prospective candidate for Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj), visited several Durga Puja mandaps in Rupganj, calling for communal harmony and a peaceful environment.

On Tuesday, he led visits to Murapara Kali Mandir, Baniadi Rishipara Mandir, Delpara Durga Mandir and other sites.

During the visits, he spoke with leaders of Puja Udjapan Parishads, mandap committee presidents and secretaries, and devotees. Praising the arrangements, he said Bangladesh has long celebrated festivals with people of all faiths. “Puja is not just a Hindu festival – it is a universal celebration,” he noted, emphasising unity to uphold communal harmony. He expressed satisfaction with government and administrative security measures, highlighting law enforcement patrols and monitoring.

Organisers welcomed him with floral greetings and raised local issues, to which he pledged full support.

Roman also criticised post-July uprising political developments, alleging government failures and Election Commission bias. He claimed NCP emerged to resist authoritarianism and restore a new political order.

Present were Rupganj NCP chief coordinator Md Yusuf Hossain, members Ifthekharuzzaman Sagor, Mohon Mia, Ishtiaq Bhuiyan, local leaders, Puja Udjapan Parishad representatives, law enforcers and hundreds of residents. The festive lighting, artistic idols and peaceful0 atmosphere drew large crowds, and his visit added to the celebrations.
