Call for formation of safety cell through PPP to protect industry

The FBCCI president called for the formation of a safety cell through the PPP to protect the industry.

The call was made by FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin at a training program of integrated inspection and monitoring team to ensure accident prevention and safe working environment in factories, industries and commercial establishments, organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on Tuesday.

FBCCI Chief said many organizations are involved in design approval of a building. But only the owner is blamed in the event of an accident. Various committees were formed to investigate the accident. But gradually the activities of the committees could not be seen. Therefore, the problem remains unsolved.

To avoid industrial incidents, relocation of plastics, chemical and light engineering industries is required. For implementing the relocation, Md. Jashim Uddin called for allocating space on easy terms and conditions. Speaking as the special guest, he said the country is now much more advanced than before. In order to reach the goal to be developed country by 2041, the government's policy needs to be properly implemented. At the same time, he assured full cooperation from the FBCCI's factory safety cell. The FBCCI president said 108 committees have been formed to inspect factories in Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts. He hopes that the private sector representatives in the government cell would work properly.

Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Prime Minister was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Md. Sirajul Islam, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and Md. Mokabbir Hossain, Secretary, Security and Services Department were present as special guests. Md. Ehsane Elahi, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment presided over the function.
