It is well to know that the cabinet has approved a draft of the ‘Jatiya Muktijoddha Council Act-2020’ incorporating a provision to enable the commission to recommend the government to publish a list of Razakars and other anti-liberation elements. Previously in 2019 a list of Razakars was published by the Liberation War Affairs ministry. But it was full of mistakes and was not properly scrutinised.
This time, the Liberation War Affairs Ministry has brought the draft of the law to the cabinet as the existing one cannot fulfil the demand of time completely. This can be said that this is to rectify the previous issues of publishing the names of freedom fighters mistakenly in the list of Razakars. We hope that with the passing of the new law, the existing ‘Jatiya Muktijoddha Council Act-2002′ will be annulled.

There should be ample opportunities to publish a flawless list of collaborators now after having one year to properly plan out the act. With the publishing of the gazette notification, the new generation will be benefitted utmost. Also, the spirit of liberation will engulf the coming youths when they learn of the people who conspired against the freedom seeking people of the country during 1971.
Above all, now is the time to focus on development of the country and also to glorify the freedom fighters who fought for the country and shed their blood. A gazette should be published as soon as possible with the names of the freedom fighters for all to know.
This list of Razakars has been in demand since 1985, and only now will the country finally get one. We hope that this will enlighten the young generation about the Razakars and also teach them of the courage and integrity that the freedom fighters showed in the face of death while fighting for independence.
