The scheduled National Fisheries Week programme of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has been postponed after the declaration of observance of the one-day state mourning on Tuesday following the tragic training aircraft crash in the capital’s Diabaria area.

“The Chief Adviser’s programme of the National Fisheries Week, which was scheduled to be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, has been postponed. The event will be held at the same time on Wednesday,” said the Chief Adviser’s press wing.

The government on Monday announced that Tuesday would be observed as a day of national mourning following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft on the Milestone School and College in the capital’s Diabari area.

To mark the mourning, the national flag will be kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government, and autonomous offices, as well as at all educational institutions across the country on Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The national flag will also be flown at half-mast at all government and private buildings and at Bangladesh missions abroad in observance of the state mourning.

Besides, special prayers will be offered at religious institutions and places of worship across the country for the departed souls and for the quick recovery of the injured.

Earlier in the day, a BAF F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed on the Milestone School and College campus around 1:18pm, leaving at least 19 people dead and many others injured till Monday’s evening.
