MP from Chapainawabganj-3 constituency Harunur Rashid on Monday raised allegation against his cousin and former MP from the constituency Abdul Wadud of misappropriating the movable and immovable property of a common aunt.
The press conference was organised at the MP’s Pathanpara residence in the district town on Monday. At the press conference, Harun said that Abdul Wadud his cousin having a common paternal aunt Golnur Begum, wife of Professor Sufyan Ahmed (90). He misappropriated the movable and unmovable property of my aunt worth Tk 25 crore. As my aunt has no children and is very old, Wadud registered her property in his name using 11 documents.
He embezzled the money deposited in banks also, alleged the cousin. He also informed that Professor Abu Sufyan and Golnur Begum had FDR accounts at different banks. In UCBL Chapainawabganj branch, Sufyan deposited savings worth Tk 50 lakh; in GPO Khulna branch, he deposited Tk 30 lakh while my aunt Golnur had Tk 36 lakh savings in Pubali Bank Ltd and
Tk 22 lakhs FDR in Maharajpur branch. Moreover, around 100 pieces of gold jewelry had been kept in a locker of Pubali Bank Khulna branch which Wadud also embezzled.
In this regard, I have filed a case against Abdul Wadud with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the hope of a fair investigation and justice.
Among others, the press conference was attended by Sadar upazila BNP president Mohammad Tosikul Islam Tosi, general secretary Motiur Rahman Moti and municipal BNP president Ad Rabiul Huq Dolan.
