Eshrail Hossain, director general (DG) of Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) at Nashipur in Dinajpur district, has been accused of embezzling crores of taka by showing fake bill vouchers.
It has also been alleged that the Pratibha Kindergarten School, located inside the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, was handed over to the BNP-Jamaat in collusion by him.
Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute was established in 1985. It was fully launched in 1987. Later, on 22 October 2017, the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute at Nashipur Dinajpur was completed.
The Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, a government-run institute, is taking the country forward by gving improved seeds for farmers in North Bengal and the whole of Bangladesh. But the development has been tarnished by the director general of the organization Dr. Md Esrail Hossain, senior scientific officer Hakim, accounting officer Shahidul and some officials.
According to various allegations, Pratibha Kindergarten School Management Committee, Dr. Md. Esrail Hossain's brothers, Chief Scientific Officer. Badruzzaman was made the chairman of the school committee. The amount to be paid by the PI of the Tozhou project is Tk. 6 crore 9 lakh 84 thousand.
Despite having 6 breeder scientists at Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, Nashipur, Dinajpur, it is not clear how Dr. Md. Esrail Hossain (himself an agricultural engineer) and Dr. Badruzzaman (who is a soil scientist) will produce breeder seeds. It has been alleged that they have plans to embezzle the money.
A scientific official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told agencies that hundreds of truckloads of wheat and maize were sold at the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute without any receipt committee.
Another official of the organization, on condition of anonymity, said said Dr. Mohammad Eshrail Hossain, director general of Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, bought a luxury plot on Road No. 3, Sector 10, Dhaka, Dhaka. He also owns many properties anonymously.
