Bangladesh Water Development Board, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, with the cooperation of the district administration, police administration, Bangladesh Army and other stakeholders, conducted eviction activities to remove illegal structures from land acquired for the flood control dam (Mirpur Embankment) on Monday.
Illegal encroachments and structures were evicted from the chainage km 8.50 (Panchavati) to km 14.00 (Goranchotbari 8 vent regulator) of the flood control dam.
During the eviction, illegal shops and establishments in the Birulia area, including Maisha Construction Limited, Karim Readymix, ABC Readymix, Shell, Sadi Filling, Jack Bangladesh, Path Builders, Amin Mohammad Group, Dhaka Boat Club, Turag Recreation Center, NDE Readymix Plant-2, were removed.
During this time, about 100 acres of illegally acquired land were freed. The first day's eviction drive ended at 5:15 pm, and the eviction process will resume as usual the next day.
