Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has planted more than 1 million saplings across the country to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
As of October 15, some 1,003,997 saplings have been planted across the country at the initiative of BWDB, said a press release received in Dhaka on Wednesday.
It said BWDB has undertaken an extensive tree plantation programme, which are being implemented on the premises of its head office, field offices and all project areas.
The initiative is being implemented after the water resources ministry took an initiative to plant 1 million saplings in the country to comply with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s orders on the Mujib Year celebration, it reads.
The BWDB, however, continues the initiative, the release added.
