BWDB gets new DG

Engineer Fazlur Rashid has joined the post of Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) on Wednesday. 

Prior to joining the current post, he served as the Additional Director General (Eastern Region) of BWDB. 

Fazlur Rashid obtained his B.Sc in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in 1987 and Master of Engineering degree in Hydro Informatics from UNESCO IHE (O), Delft, Netherlands in 1998.

He joined the BWDB in 1988 as Assistant Engineer. In his long career, he has been responsible for the design, planning, monitoring, hydrology, river bank conservation, irrigation, flood control and drainage project implementation, management and maintenance of BWDB's headquarters and field level offices. 

He also served as the team leader of the two countries in 2011 for dredging the Ichhamati River on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Jashore and Satkhira districts. 

During his long service of 33 years in Bangladesh Water Development Board, he participated in various seminars and training programmes at home and abroad including Japan, Thailand, Netherlands, Denmark, Tanzania, Germany, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. He was born in 1964 in an aristocratic Muslim family in Faridpur district.
