Engineer AKM Wahed Uddin Chowdhury joined as the new Director General (Grade-1) of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) on Thursday.
Prior to joining the current post, he served as Additional Director General (Planning) of BWDB. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in 1984. He joined Bangladesh Water Development Board in 1986 as Assistant Engineer.
In his long career, he has been proficient in BWDB’s river bank conservation, irrigation, flood control and drainage projects, design, planning, monitoring hydrology and BWDB's field level offices.
During his long service in BWDB, he participated in various seminars and trainings at home and abroad including Japan, Thailand, Italy, Morocco and France.
He was born in 1962 in an aristocratic Muslim family in Dhaka district.
