The opening convocation and fresher’s reception for the newly-enrolled students of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on Tuesday at its campus. BUP Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Md Emdad-Ul-Bari was present as the chief guest. At that time, Dr Syed Anwar Husain, professor of Bangabandhu Chair was present as the speaker.
At the beginning of the ceremony, selected representatives carried faculty flags. The programme began with a rendition of the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. BUP Registrar Brig Gen Md Mahboob Sarwar delivered welcome speech. In his speech, the vice-chancellor addressed various rules and regulations of the university, including maintaining discipline and integrity of the university, keeping the campus free from all forms of intoxication.
He also encouraged the students to participate in the ongoing development of the country by focusing on the lessons and free from political activities. He then announced the inauguration of the 2020 academic year. Pro-VC Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, BUP high officials, faculty members, freshers and their guardians were also present at the programme.
