The inauguration of Comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS), Remote Proctoring and Plagiarism was held on Tuesday at Bijoy Auditorium of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in Mirpur Cantonment in capital Dhaka.

BUP has introduced this software to make the online BUP education programme more up-to-date and to conduct online classes smoothly amid any kind of global adverse situation like corona, said ISPR.

The software enables to conduct online classes, exchange information between teachers and students, report on overall academic progress of the students, manage each teacher and student profile, upload videos, take any kind of exams and manage it by remote proctoring.

It also will verify the originality and clarity of writing like thesis, term paper and assignment through ‘Turn it in’ plagiarism checker app. Besides, this new platform will help to conduct academic activities related to education and research.

In the inaugural ceremony, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni was present as the chief guest and Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury was present as the special guest. BUP VC Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan supervised the overall programme.

Dr Dipu Moni said that while Corona has ruined everything around the world, pushed education towards an extreme uncertainty, BUP has set a unique precedent. In the midst of this global stagnation, BUP has been using technology from the very beginning to conduct online classes, examinations and all other administrative functions, she added.

On the eve of the golden jubilee of independence, the example set by BUP in response to the call of the  Prime Minister to build a digital Bangladesh is truly unique. He further said that universities in higher education should focus more on research, only then universities will be able to reach the desired meaning. The quality of education will be measured not by the number of students but by the quality of education. Universities will be the birthplace of higher education, knowledge, and research.

Among others, members of parliament, secretaries from various ministries, members of Bangladesh University Grants Commission, Professor Bangabandhu Chair of BUP, members of Bangladesh Accreditation Council, faculty members of various universities, high officials of BUP and journalists were also present.

This newly inducted platform shall serve as an important milestone in furthering BUP’s journey to promote online academic activities
