BUP holds 17th annual senate meeting

The 17th Annual Senate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on 19 June at the university’s Bijoy Auditorium in Dhaka.

BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam presided over the meeting. At the beginning of the session, he expressed gratitude to the outgoing members and welcomed the newly appointed ones.

During the meeting, BUP Treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan presented the revised budget of Tk. 134 crore 8 lakh for the fiscal year 2024-2025 and proposed a Tk. 134 crore 97 lakh budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Both budgets were unanimously approved by the Senate members.

The 17th Annual Report of the university was also presented and received unanimous approval. BUP Registrar Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan conducted the meeting.

In his address, Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam highlighted the achievements of BUP students, faculty, and researchers at national and international levels despite being a relatively young institution. He said the university is committed to achieving academic excellence through a well-planned “Academic Strategic Plan–2050.”

He mentioned that initiatives have been taken to modernize curricula and implement an Outcome Based Education (OBE) system. Emphasis has also been placed on increasing research, publications, and consultancy activities through the BUP Research Centre (BRC). The Vice Chancellor informed that BUP publishes five research journals every year, which have gained wide recognition.

Major General Mahbub-ul Alam also emphasized developing students as ethical, responsible citizens alongside academic competence. To this end, ethical education has been made part of all academic programs. He added that BUP is also working to attract international students and regularly organizes cultural and national day events to promote patriotism and social values.
