The 16th annual senate meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on June 10 at Bijoy Auditorium of BUP. Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD, BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman was in a chair while BUP Registrar A B M Faisal Baten, ndc, psc conducted the meeting.
Among others, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam (Bir Uttam), MP, Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, MP, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, MP, Major General (Retd) Salahuddin Miazi, MP, Secretaries from different Ministries, high officials from Bangladesh Armed Forces, and high officials of BUP were present in the meeting.
BUP Vice Chancellor thanked the outgoing members and welcomed the newly appointed members at the beginning of the programme.
BUP Treasurer Air Cdre Md Shafiqul Islam, ndc, fawc, psc, GD(P) presented the revised 2023-2024 fiscal year budget Tk. 129 Crore 7 lac and announced new fiscal year 2024-2025 budget Tk. 132 Crore 93 lac, as well as the 16th annual report in the senate meeting those were unanimously approved by the senate members.
Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam said that the creation of new knowledge, expansion of education, various infrastructural developments and other multifaceted activities are ongoing in BUP. BUP has already framed an ‘Academic Strategic Plan 2023-2050’ and its implementation direct us to the success at the national and international level.
“Co-Curricular and Extracurricular Activities are conducted through 27 clubs of BUP to develop the latent talent of the students and participating in club activities will sharpen their creativity, “he added.
He further accentuate BUP works on inculcating moral values and awakening patriotism among the new generation, at the same time BUP Research Center is carrying out large-scale research activities result in publication of 5 research journals.
Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam briefed about the office of international affairs, which aimed at highlighting the university in the international arena in higher education, admission of foreign students and introducing BUP to the researchers and teachers of foreign universities. In addition, BUP admission process including application, registration, and final admission is fully automated. The process of Faculty Members evaluation is being conducted through students evaluation system in all the courses to minimize the gap between teachers and students.
