Bumper paddy production in Bogura, farmers busy

Paddy ripening has started in Bogura district. Production target has been achieved due to good yield. Farmers are busy threshing paddy in the field of Bogura. In addition to harvesting paddy in the field of Bogura, threshing of paddy has started in the bazaar. Although there was no rain at the beginning of the season, good yield of Amwan paddy has been achieved in Bogura with steady rains after paddy planting. This brought smiles to the faces of the farmers of the district.

Paddy cutting and threshing work is going on in Bogura field. Farmers fear that the profit will be slightly lower due to the increase in production cost. The agriculture department is expecting that the production target will be exceeded as the yield this year is better than in the past few years. Aman is cultivated in all upazilas including Sadar, Sherpur, Shibganj, Nandigram, Shajahanpur of the district. The agriculture department said, Aman farmers were disappointed when they did not see rain during the planting of paddy this season. However, at the last moment, the farmers fell into the field due to steady rain. This has resulted in better yield of Aman compared to last few years. 15 to 20 maunds of paddy are available per bigha at the cost of 12 to 15 thousand taka. Farmers plant paddy from July to 25th of September. From November to December, after the paddy harvest, the golden harvest comes to the farmer's house.

Farmers including Azizur of Shibganj, Abu Bakkar, Sahidul of Shajahanpur said that the yield of rice has been better this time than last time, but the cost of production has increased. Fertilizers, pesticides, labor costs have gone up and profits are not as good as before.

Additional Deputy Director (Students) of Agriculture Extension Department Bogra Enamul Haque said that the Agriculture Department is with the farmers by providing various advice and technical assistance. The agriculture department is helping the farmers to produce more by giving advice on various issues including fertilizer irrigation, pesticides, disease control.

Additional Director of Agriculture Extension Department, agriculturist Dulal Hossain said that cultivation has exceeded the target in Bogura. He said that the farmers will benefit as the yield is good this time. In the current season, 8 lakh tonnes of paddy will be available from 1 lakh 83 thousand 475 hectares of land, out of which 5.5 lakh tonnes of rice will be produced.
