Md Tota Mia, Panchagarh
Visiting various villages in Panchagarh’s Haribhasa Union it was found that this time the yield of seasonal fruit Latkan has been excellent.
Ripe Latkan’s are seen hanging from trunk of the tree to the topmost part of the tree. There seems to be Latkans even more than the leaves of the tree.
Md. Siraj Mia, the owner of a Latkan orchard in the area, said that this is how Latkan grows on the tree every year. The wholesaler come and buys Latkan from the orchard.
He said he sells Latkan worth more than 1 lakh taka a year, but this time he hopes to sell more Latkan as the demand for Latkan has increased this time.
Meanwhile, Md. Subel, a trader of Panchagarh Kadam Tala Fruit Market, said that in the first phase, it was sold at Rs. Now it has decreased a little but Latkan is not available as per the demand. So this time the price is a little higher.
Md. Mizanur Rahman, Panchagarh agriculturist in ABC, said that there are less lotcon gardens in Panchagarh than other districts, but if anyone wants to do lotcon garden, our advice will definitely continue.
