Bumper Boro production in C’nawabganj

Boro harvesting is going on in full swing in the district and the farmers are getting bumper production this year.

According to the district office of the Department of Agriculture Extensin (DAE), 80 percent Boro paddy has so far been harvested and the production of Boro this year is likely to cross the target.

The sources said, a total of 51,555 hectares of land in which 12,990 hectares in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, 7,010 hectares in Shibganj, 15,485 hectares in Gomostapur, 9,950 hectares in Nachole and 6,120 hectares in Bholahat upazila were cultivated with the target to produce 2,33,576 tonnes of rice.

The farmers are getting more production than they expected and the DAE office is expecting the production of 2,37,150 tonnes of rice which is 3,574 tonnes higher than the target it fixed up this year, DAE sources added.

While contacted, Additional Deputy Director of DAE Masud Ahmed said, the production of Boro this year is bumper. 

About the reason of bumper production he said that this year the crop did not face any natural calamity or pest attack.
