Farmers of Dinajpur district are optimistic about getting bumper production of beans this year due to a favorable weather condition and timely supply of necessary inputs.
According to sources, this year, the weather of the district is suitable for bean production. Intermittent rainfall early this month was helpful for the growth of bean.
Every year, farmers were earning a handsome amount of money by selling beans. Farmers are hopeful, if the weather situation remains suitable, they will earn Tk 100,000 to 250,000 by selling bean from a bigha of land.
It is learnt, during the starting of the season, the market price of the beans was Tk 100 to Tk 120 per kilogramme and now the price has come down to Tk 75 to Tk 90.
The bean farmers hope that bumper production of bean and its fair price will delight them this year. The growers have been successful in cultivating some varieties of bean.
Visiting some areas, this correspondent found huge beans hanging from each plant. A farmer said that he cultivated bean on 20 decimals of land spending Tk 6,000. He is optimistic about good profit. He said that favorable weather and fewer insects are the main cause of good production.
