Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has postponed the admission test for the 2020-21 academic year due to the surge in Coronavirus transmission. It also said a new test date would be announced once the situation comes under control.

The decision was made at a virtual meeting of BUET's Academic Council on Tuesday (June 22nd) where Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Satya Prasad Majumder presided over.

It was later confirmed through a notice on BUET's website. It said that the pre-selection examination and the final admission test to be held for the admission in the undergraduate class in the 2020-2021 academic year has been postponed. The date of pre-selection and final admission test will be announced later, at least 10 days before the pre-selection test.

However, the council did not even mention or predict any new dates. It all depends on the pandemic situation, according to a source.

Earlier in a meeting on May 11, BUET decided to postpone the admission test in the first phase due to surge in virus transmission. According to the decision taken that day, the preliminary selection was to be held on June 30 and July 1 and the final examination was to be held on July 10.
