The Jatiya Sangsad budget session for fiscal 2020-201 begins on June 10 amid strict restrictions due to Covid-19 crisis.

This will be the eighth session of the 11th parliament and second budget of the Awami League government formed through the December 30 national election in 2018.

The session will start by maintaining many rules and regulations due to corona epidemic.

The budget session will begin in a completely different context this time. So everything is going to be in limited scale.

The budget session will begin at 5pm on the day with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

The Working Advisory Committee will fix all activities including how long the session will last before starting the budget session at the meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take part in the meeting chaired by the Speaker.

An official of the Parliament Secretariat said, "As far as I am aware, the budget session will continue for a total of 8 working days. The budget will be passed on June 30.”

“A special cabinet meeting will be held on June 11 at the Sangsad Bhaban. There will be approval of the budget for the new fiscal year 2020-2021,” he added.

“Like the previous budget sessions, President Abdul Hamid will approve the draft budget after approval by the cabinet,” he informed.

He said that after the approval, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will present the budget in Parliament.

Ten ministers, including the Prime Minister, will be present at the special cabinet meeting to approve the budget. A notification in this regard has already been issued.

Other budget sessions were attended by full members of the cabinet. However, everything will be in limited form in the budget session due to the Corona situation.  A few MPs are being asked to be present in order to fill the quorum.

Staff members with MPs are not allowed to enter the session.  Seating for members of parliament must be maintained at a certain distance.

There will be a thermal scanner at the entrance gate inside the parliament.  Everyone will be allowed to enter by measuring the temperature.
