The recent parliament session comprised of a statement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina saying that the present budget is a people friendly, development oriented and balanced one. Moreover, she also mentioned that everyone will be benefited from the current budget numbers.

Looking back at the proposed budget allocation, the numbers were somewhat like this --- Tk 3,20,469 crore for operation and other expenditures and Tk 2,02,721 crore for the annual development programme. The highest budget allocation was proposed to the communication sector with the biggest infrastructure project Padma bridge spear heading the advent of development in the nation.

This allocation is highly necessary. When the bridge will be completed it will be a connecting line for millions of people each day. Not only that, it ensures a faster movement of resources across the country. Thus the operations allocation in the proposed budget is a highly feasible one. On the other hand, the second highest allocation has been proposed for the power sector. It is getting about 12.83 percent of the total proposed budget. This ensures the fulfillment of the electoral pledges of the prime minister to get Bangladesh marching towards prosperity.

The allocation to infrastructure

is a feasible and very essential one.

As through this more people will be

brought under the gamut  of development

Besides this, the third highest allocation has been proposed for infrastructure planning, water supply and housing sector which would be about 12 percent of the budget. Infrastructure has been an issue for long as there are still a number of remote areas in the corners of Bangladesh which are quite inaccessible and where none or very few facilities and amenities have reached. In this regard the allocation to infrastructure is a feasible and very essential one. As through this more people will be brought under the shroud of development.

The proposed budget allocation can be visualized as a promise of great development for the people and the country. The growth in GDP envisioned being one step higher and closer to the promised 10 percent growth in the electoral pledge of the present government can also be a reality walking along this path of development. Lastly, the efficient use of the budget and reducing any wastage from previous years can bring fruitful results.
