BTV to start airing ‘Shongshoptok’

Bangladesh Television has decided to broadcast the delightful drama series ‘Shongshoptok’ based on the novel of Shahidullah Kaiser to alleviate the monotony of home quarantine of viewer due to the coronavirus.

BTV Director General SM Harun Ar Rashid confirmed this matter. Prior to this the launch of ‘Kothao Keu Nei’ and 'Bahubrihi' from April 6 was done to alleviate the boredom of home quarantine. 

He said plans were to launch ‘Shongshoptok’ as soon as the remaining 'Bahubrihi' airing was over in a week. Imdadul Haque Milon dramatized the drama based on Shahidullah Kaiser's novel ‘Shongshoptok’. This was directed by Abdullah Al Mamun, Al Mansur and Mohammad Abu Taher.

Famous actor Humayun Faridi was praised by the audience for his role as ‘Kankata Ramzan’. Ferdousi Majumder, Raisul Islam Asad, Mujibur Rahman Dilu, Mamunur Rashid and Subarna Mustafa also acted in it.

During the production of the play in 1971, after the start of the war of liberation, the shooting was stopped for a long time. After independence, the drama began to air in full swing on BTV. The series gained immense popularity among the viewers.

About thirty years later, it has been decided to again air the series. Another BTV official told that the digital transfer of the series from the tape has already been started.
