The quality of imported food products must be strictly controlled. We must ensure the quality of all types of food products, including grains, pulses, sugar. If we want to live long, we must not compromise on food quality. The quality, not just the food, but the quality of the product has to be protected.

Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan said this while addressing a meeting as the chief guest held on the occasion of World Standard Day. However, Chittagong BSTI Director, Engineer Md Selim Reza presided over the discussion organized by BSTI at Chittagong Circuit House on Monday. Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan was the chief guest, Chittagong Chamber President Mahbubul Alam, Additional District Magistrate Sharif Hossain, CAB General Secretary Kazi Iqbal Bahar Chaberi were the chief guests. BSTI Shaukat Osman gave a gracious speech on the occasion.

Ctg Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan said, "Various efforts are being made around the world to ensure that consumers are not deprived. But where are we today? "There are 188 products under BSTI approval, but beyond that, we are also enjoying different products as consumers," he added.

Another important thing is the weight of a product. We must ensure the correct size. He said that it is not possible to provide quality services to 16 crore people with 600 personnel of BSTI, so he has called for increasing the workforce and expanding the organizational infrastructure.

Chittagong Chamber President Mahbubul Alam called for modernization of the BSTI and said that since 80% of the goods were brought through Chittagong port, Chittagong BSTI has no alternative to increase and modernize its manpower. This has to be done through far-reaching thinking. No one can be compressed about the quality.
