Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Monday directed the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to conduct drives immediately against the illegal and sub-standard ms rod manufacturing factories, reports BSS.
“Drives will continue against such organizations and factories for the sake of public interest. Side by side, legal steps will be taken against those ms rod manufacturing institutions which are illegally using the logo of BSTI,” he said. The Industries Minister gave the directive when a delegation of the Bangladesh Steel Manufacturers Association met him at his office, said a ministry press release.
He said the government would take all sorts of steps to protect the rights of the local steel industries while it would also consider the rational demands of the quality steel manufacturers. Humayun also directed the ministry officials to take effective steps while fixing marking fee on a rationale rate on ms rod following the demand from the association leaders. The meeting discussed about the bright potentials and problems of the promising steel industry sector in the country.
