BSTI bans 43 more products

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has banned the sales, distribution, storing and commercial advertising of 43 more products of different brands, including Danish, Suresh, Promi and Pubali Salt, reports UNB.

All of the companies were also served with show-cause notices over their substandard items, said a BSTI release on Monday.
On April 25 last, the BSTI also banned 17 products of 12 companies asking them to refrain from selling, distribution, storing and commercial advertising of the products.

On the occasion of the month of Ramadan, the BSTI surveillance team collected a total of 521 product samples of different brands from various markets across the country and examined those in two phases.

In the first phase, the BSTI team confirmed 17 products as ‘substandard goods’ examining 251 samples out of total 521 collected in the last two months.

The team in the second phase found 43 other products as ‘substandard ones’ testing the remaining 270 samples.
The substandard products and companies include Suresh mustard oil of Annapurna Oil Mills in Narsingdi; Chawli Flower Mustard Oil of Bengal Oil Mills in Muktagachha, Mymensingh; Ruby Mustard Oil of Mymensingh BL Oil Mills; Hilsa Mustard Oil of Padma Oil Mills in Mymensingh; Ring Mustard Oil of Rupan Oil Mills in Mymensingh; Tiger Mustard Oil of Loknath Oil Mills in Narsingdi; Shakti Mustard Oil of Shakti Edible Products Ltd. in Narayanganj; Turag Mustard Oil of Turag Oil Mills in Gazipur; Mustard oil of SK Agro Food Processor in Narayanganj; Promi Mustard oil of Dhaka Promi Agro Foods Ltd; Kalyani Fortified Edible Rice Bran Oil of Ali Natural Oil Mills & Agro Industries Limited in Jamalpur.

The products and brands also include Sun Drop Fruit and Vegetable Juice (Aloe Vera) of Mymensingh Agro Limited in Gazipur; Danish Coriander Powder, Danish Curry Power (Beef Masala) and Danish Curry Power (Chicken Masala) of Danish Foods Ltd in Narayanganj; Alooz chips of Bombay Sweets & Company Ltd in Narayanganj; and Ideal curry power of Ideal Agro Products (Pvt) Ltd in Narayanganj; Priya Special Laccha Shemai of Priya Food Products in Netrakona; Saudia Laccha Shemai of Saudia Food Products in Dhamrai of Dhaka; Four star curry power (Bar-B-Q spices) of Four Star Food Products in Dhaka; and AZA Ideal curry power (Meat Kala Bhuna Masala) of AZA Ideal Agro Food & Beverage (Pvt) Ltd in Dhaka.

Among other substandard products, Dolphin Iodized Salt of Sourvi Salt in Narayanganj; Mayor Iodized Salt of Saptadinga Salt Industries in Narayanganj; Pubali Iodized Salt of Pubali Salt Industries in Narayanganj; Tomato Iodized Salt and Ali Iodized Salt of Ali Salt Industries in Narayanganj; Tripti Iodized Salt of New Quality Salt Industries in Narayanganj; Diganta Iodized Salt of Pragati Salt Industries in Narayanganj; Fortified palm oil of Anis Store in Badarganj of Rangpur; fortified palm oil of Ismail Store at Patgram in Lalmonirhat; fortified Soybean oil of Garibullah Shah Store in Patgram of Lalmonirhat; imported refined sugar and imported Ottogi curry hot of Fihat International Traders in Arambagh of Dhaka;

The rest substandard products are high speed diesel, unleaded motor gasoline-premium (Octane) and unleaded motor gasoline-regular (petrol) of Chhanda Filling Station and GM Filling Stations in Naodapara of Rajshahi; high speed diesel and petrol of Motiur Filling Station in Paba of Rajshahi; Octane and Petrol of Abdullah & Brothers Filling Station in Paba in Rajshahi.
