BSMMU, Japan’s Oita University sign MoU over research, training

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and Oita University of Japan over research and training between the two universities. 

The signing ceremony took place on Monday (October 23, 2023). The Research Center for GLOBAL and LOCAL Infectious Diseases (RCGLID) of Oita University arranged the event. 

BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed and Vice President of Oita University Professor Dr Akira Nishizono signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. 

Professor Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed expressed the hope that the signing of this MoU will create great opportunity for cooperation in research and training between the two universities. 

Assistant Professor of RCGLID Dr. Shakirul Khan moderated the event, while visiting researcher of RCGLID and a medical scientist of Bangladeshi origin Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar and head of Interventional Hepatology Division of BSMMU Professor Dr Mamun Al Mahtab Shwapnil also spoke on the occasion, among others. 

It can be noted that for the last two years, Interventional Hepatology Division Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and RCGLID of Oita University have been conducting joint research activities.
