Another incident of cross-border push-in has taken place along Shantipur border in Matiranga upazila of Khagrachari district, as the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly forced nine individuals—including women and children—into Bangladeshi territory early Thursday morning.
According to Matiranga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Manzur Alam, the group of nine has been temporarily housed at Belchhari High School. “They are currently under the supervision of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and further decisions will be made after verifying their identities,” he said.
With this incident, the total number of people pushed into Bangladesh through various border points in Khagrachari has now reached 154, officials confirmed.
Local authorities and the BGB are closely monitoring the situation as diplomatic sensitivity over such incidents continues.
