BSF pushes in 7 Bangladeshis thru Jamalpur border

Border Security Force (BSF) pushes in seven Bangladeshi nationals, including four women through Dhanua Kamalpur border at Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur district.

The incident occurred around 4:00 AM near pillar 1083 of the area on Thursday. Later, locals apprehended them around 7:00 AM and handed them over to Bakshiganj Police Station.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Enayet Khan, 55, son of Kashem Ali and Mohammad Islam, 22, son of Belayet Khan. Both from Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district; Korban Ali, 20, son of Mehbub Ali and his mother Taslima Begum, 50, from Faridpur district; Sumi Akter, 30, daughter of Sohag Mia and her sister Remi Akter, 20, both from Khalishpur, Khulna; Maya Akter, 32, daughter of Rustam Ali, from Patharghata upazila in Barguna district.

According to the detainees, they had previously crossed into various Indian cities through brokers in search of work. Recently, following a series of push-back incidents at different borders, the BSF also sent them back to Bangladesh through the border.

Dhanua Kamalpur Union Parishad Ward No. 2 member Motaleb Mia said that upon receiving news of seven people being pushed back from India early Thursday morning, he mobilised villagers and they took position at the border to apprehend them.

Confirming the detention, Bakshiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khandaker Shaker Ahmed said that legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
