The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly pushed 18 individuals into Bangladesh through the Kazipur border in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district on Tuesday afternoon.

They entered the country through the area near International Border Pillar 145. Members of the local Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) unit apprehended them shortly after they crossed the fence and brought them to the camp.

Kazipur BGB Company Commander Nayek Subedar Habibur Rahman stated that the BSF opened a section of the barbed wire fence and forced the group across the border. The BGB successfully detained them before they could blend in with local residents.

The detainees claimed to be Bangladeshi nationals who had crossed into India illegally at various times in search of work.

According to them, the BSF gathered and expelled them through the Kazipur border. They hail from Khulna, Jashore, Narail, and Thakurgaon districts.

Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station, Bani Israil, confirmed that legal action will be taken following verification of their identities once they are handed over by the BGB.
