BSF kills Bangladeshi cattle trader in Benapole

A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Agrovulote border in Sharsha upazila of Jashore on early Wednesday. 

The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 25, son of Ehask Ali from Rajgong village in the upazila.  He was a cattle trader by profession.

Police recovered the body in the morning from Isamoti river near the bordering area and sent it to Jashore general Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Badrul Alom, officer-in-charge of  Sharsha Police Station. 

The deceased man's wife Madina Khatun and his uncle Yunus Ali said that Shariful and some other people went to India for bringing Indian cattle on Monday but when they were entering Bangladesh, Jhaudanga BSF troops opened fire on them, and he died on the spot.

Later BSF members threw the dead body  in the Isamoti river.  BGB and Police High officials visited the spot on Wednesday morning . Police recovered the body with the help of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members.

21 BGB Battalion Commanding officer  Lt. Colonel Manzoor-e-Elahi said a BGB team was passing by the river when they saw the body floating in the river and informed Sharsha police station.

He added that the body was recovered from Isamati river and sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy. 

However, it is not possible to say anything at this moment without the autopsy report, he said.
