Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has organized a road-show titled "The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Bangladesh Capital Markets" in Dubai with an aim to reach out to non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) investors and to attract foreign investment in Bangladesh. The road show was formally inaugurated on Wednesday
The Investor Summit and road-show has been sponsored by UCB Stock Brokerage Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Commercial Bank Limited. The summit will continue till Friday i.e. February 12 at the same venue. This investor summit is expected to increase the market participation of foreign and NRB investors in the Bangladesh capital market.
The Chairman of BSEC, Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam chaired the road-show. While addressing he highlighted the important role of capital market for raising long term funds through bond and sukuk to solve the maturity mismatch problem long prevailing in our banking sector.
He emphasized the risky nature of the market and focused on the importance of research and professional investing approach for sustained return from the capital market.
He thanked the Non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) for their contribution in the development of Bangladesh. He praised the current dynamic leadership under Prime Minister of Bangladesh and also thanked the distinguished guests attending in the session.
Land Minister, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, attended the event as chief guest while State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md Zahid Ahsan Russell attended the event as the Special Guest.
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of United Commercial Bank Limited, Anisuzzaman Chowdhury attended as the Special Guest and thanked the current government, as well as the new Commission for their relentless efforts in achieving stricter implementation of regulations in the capital market.
Arif Khan, CEO, IDLC Limited, Mohammad Rahmat Pasha, CEO, UCB Stock Brokerage Limited, Professor Md. Masudur Rahman, Director, DSE and Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman, Chaiman of Al Haramain Group & President of NRB Association also addressed the event among others.

The BSEC Chairman also launched the online account opening portal in the program and also announced that NRBs will now be able to open their BO account online. He along with other guests handed over a certificate of appreciation to the first NRB account holder in the online portal.
