BSCIC service centre opens at Daffodil University campus

Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) under the Ministry of Industries has launched its own service center at Daffodil International University (DIU) campus with the aim of finding new entrepreneurs from the students of the  University creating a new trend in the country's small, cottage and medium industries through them.

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of DIU Board of Trustees. and BSCIC Chairman Mahbubur Rahman jointly inaugurated the 'Industrial Support Center' on Thursday at the campus. 

DIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman presided over the opening ceremony. 

Prof. Dr. Md. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship of DIU spoke at the programme.

Abu Taher Khan, Project Director of Industrial Innovation Center of DIU delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Addressing as the chief guest in the program, BSCIC Chairman Mahbubur Rahman said that BSCIC has been working since 1957 with the aim of development and development of small and cottage industries in the country, where traditional artisans and handicraftsmen were one of the entrepreneurs. Later, relatively big entrepreneurs of various genres were associated with it, but the educated youth who passed from the university could never become mainstream entrepreneurs.  But BSCIC wants to do it this time and with that aim, the work of creating a new trend in this field has been started by supporting talented young entrepreneurs of Daffodil International University. And in continuation of that, BSCIC service center was started in DIU campus.

Mentioning the cooperation of Daffodil University in this regard, he said that DIU is advising its graduates to become entrepreneurs without pushing the students towards the conventional job market and providing important resources like capital, training etc., is undoubtedly commendable.

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan,Chairman of Board of Trustees of DIU in his speech said that since its inception, Daffodil International University has been striving to make it an entrepreneurial higher education institution. And as a result, a large number of DIU graduates are now established entrepreneurs in business and economic sectors and some of them are quite famous.

Thanking BSCIC for setting up BSCIC's Industrial Support Center at Daffodil University campus, he said that as BSCIC is working with micro entrepreneurs, Daffodil student-entrepreneurs are also starting their journey as micro entrepreneurs.  Therefore, if these two organizations work together, then it is bound to have a positive impact on the small, cottage and medium industries of the country.
