‘BSC now to procure more ships with its own financing

Speakers at a meeting expressed that Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) is going to procure more new ships for BSC fleet and not the corporation has acquired the ability to procure ships with its own financing.

The remarks were made at the inauguration of an Ansar camp and setting up 3 guard posts at this place with the technical assistance of Chattogram Drydock Limited.

 State Minister for Shipping and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP inaugurated the Ansar camp established at Kaibalyadham owned by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) on Sunday afternoon.

 Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was given a permanent allotment of 12.77 acres by the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) in 1980.  As a lot of the allotted area is unoccupied, the district administration Chattogram and the Assistant Commissioner of Lands (Kattoli) have already completed the digital survey and set up the boundary poles.

 Apart from this, the boundary wall work is also in process through Chattogram Drydock Limited.  In this Ansar camp, a total of 25 Ansars including PC, APC will be engaged round the clock for the security of the place.  

At present, BSC has plans to undertake various income-generating projects through joint ventures at the site with the help of the district administration, including eviction of illegal encroachments.  

Senior Secretary of Shipping Ministry Md. Mostafa Kamal, BSC Managing Director Commodore Md. ZiaulHaque, Chattogram Drydock Limited Managing Director, Assistant Commissioner Land (Kattoli Circle), Chattogram District Ansar Commandant and members of BSC Board of Directors were present at the inauguration ceremony.

BSC General Manager (Administration) and Deputy Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Amin performed the overall responsibility of the program.

Following this, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) earned a net profit of Tk 246 crore 29 lakh in FY 2022-23.  BSC declared 25% dividend to shareholders/investors.

 These decisions were announced in the 318th board meeting of the Board of Directors at the BSC head office in Chattogram.

 BSC Board of Directors Chairman and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

 BSC Board of Directors member Senior Secretary of Ministry of Shipping Md. Mostafa Kamal, BSC Managing Director Commodore Md. ZiaulHaque were present.
