Theatre the Department of Drama & Dramatics of Jahangirnagar University staged a musical theatre production ‘Man of La Mancha’ at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) yesterday.
The play ‘Man of La Mancha’ is written by Dale Wasserman based on Miguel de Cervantes’ masterpiece novel ‘Don Quixote’. The play has been translated by Abdus Selim and directed by Yusuf Hasan Arko.
The play tells the story of the ‘mad’ knight Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition.
The costume of the play has been designed by Khairuzzahan Mitu, while stage lighting has been done by Habib Masud and Apurba Saha Opu has designed the stage.
