Popular theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) staged yet another show of their Liberation War-based play ‘Kaal Ratri’ on Sunday evening at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Based on Lamisa Shirin Hossain’s story ‘The Lone Survivor’, the play has been adapted by Tanvir Ahmed and directed by Wahidul Islam. The story encircles the night of March 25, 1971 when Pakistani military killed thousands of innocent Bangladeshis. The play unfolds as a young girl asks his grandfather, who was a teacher of Dhaka University in 1971, about the war. Through stories and her encounter with a wounded freedom fighter, the girl gets to know about the war and its sheer horror.

The casts of the play included Sakhawat Hossain Shimul, Sanjida Parveen, Mohammad Imran Khan, Ikramul Islam, Jinia Azad, Tasmi Chowdhury, Syeda Shamsi Ara Sayeka and Farhad Sumon, among others.

The play, which is the 38th production of the troupe, was premiered in November, 2015.
