Child artistes from across the country entertained the audience staging plays and dance recitals at different venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the eighth day of National Children’s Theatre and Cultural Festival on Friday.
The programmes commenced with the organisers handing over Manchakuri Padak to 31 children with special needs, 20 acrobats of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy troupe and 41 children from 10 districts.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Ghulam Quddus, renowned actor Zahid Hasan and singer Akhi Alamgir were present as special guests at the awards ceremony. A workshop on puppet theatre was also held.
Children from Scholastica School and College staged the play Gartho at Studio Theatre Hall. The play, based on Kishan Chandra Roy’s story, has been adapted and directed by Taufiqul Islam Emon.
Chattogram-based cultural organisation Kids Cultural Centre staged Becharam Kenaram at the venue. The play, based on Upendra Kishore Roy’s story, has been adapted by Asim Das and directed by Dr Sourav Shakhawat.
Besides, Pathshala Children’s Theatre, Sylhet, Khagrachari District Shilpakala Academy and others staged plays and puppet shows at the venue.
Besides, artistes from different district branches of Shilpakala Academy presented dances, songs and others at the Nandan Mancha of the academy.
The nine-day festival, which ended on Saturday, was jointly organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and People’s Theatre Association.
