To remember 45 prominent poets, litterateurs and artistes of the country, a month-long commemorative event titled ‘Smriti Swatta Bhabisshat’ is being held on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.
BSA, in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has organised the month-long programme to pay tribute to the veterans.
As a part of the event, eminent Bengali musicians Kamal Das Gupta and Nazru Sangeet singer Feroza Begum were remembered yesterday at 6:00pm at the National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium of BSA.
On the other hand, remembering eminent playwright, theatre activist Selim Al Deen and filmmaker Subhash Duta another programme was held at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA>
The programme was presided over by Dr Biswajit Ghosh, Golam Shafiq and Salim Mojahar delivered speeches on Selim Al Deen, while Dr Lutfar Shrestha read an essay.
Afterwards, following the discussion, Jahangirnagar University staged Selim Al Deen’s play titled ‘Dhaboman’ at 8:00pm at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.
As a part of the commemorative event ‘Smriti Swatta Bhabisshat’, Subhash Dutta-directed full-length feature film toted ‘Sutorang’ was screened yesterday at 6:30pm at the International Digital Cultural Archive of BSA. Dutta also played the lead male role in the film.
Actor Kabori Sarwar made her debut in this film. The film won the second prize in Frankfurt Asia Film in 1964.
