A peaceful environment is a must to hold a free, fair and credible general election. But, different quarters, some elements and defeated and communal forces led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are out to destroy the country’s pre-poll environment.
BNP and its allies now are creating panic and confusion among the public through lies and rumours in order to snatch away the voting rights of the people. BNP’s high command and stalwarts know it very well that if the general public comes to polling stations, this election will be deemed acceptable and a credible one.
If the people express satisfaction after casting their vote, the election’s credibility will be established. The evil forces are now desperate to prevent people from going to polling centres during the election at any cost through subversive activities and propagandas.
We think such ill-motive is definitely a punishable offence and the real culprits must face the music. We did not want the BNP to remain out of the election. Had they joined the polls, the country’s national election would have been more competitive. Although they (BNP) are not in the field of elections, a festive atmosphere is prevailing centering the poll. The convicted fugitive and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman staying in London is trying to destroy the country’s pre-poll environment, politics and democratic progress.
He (Tarique) fled the country by giving on undertaking. Many political parties of many countries of the world boycott the elections but such sabotage that BNP is carrying out is rarely witnessed.

BNP-Jamaat clique wanted to snatch away lives of people frequently. Staying in London Tarique gives order and some people are following his directives here and are playing with fire.
However, country’s people will never want to see the looters, killers, corrupts and embezzlers of orphans’ money in power. The BNP-Jamaat nexus thought that the government would be ousted through arson terrorism.
Now they have realised that it is not that easy. Therefore, BNP-Jamaat nexus are now creating panic among the people. However, the election commission is successfully facing the situation with the help of the local administration and law enforcement agencies now in the field to hold the upcoming January 7 polls in a free, fair, and peaceful manner at any cost to make it acceptable.
Military dictator Ziaur Rahman and his wife Begum Khaleda Zia killed the democracy. It is normal that those who started politics of killing-conspiracy always try to halt advancement of the country’s democratic progress.
BNP-Jamaat always tries to seize power by creating panic before the polls and rigging ballots. They are carrying out attacks on public transport, conducting attacks on trains several times. In a multi-party democratic country like Bangladesh all political parties should respect democratic culture and values. If the country’s pre-poll and democratic environment is destroyed due to the ill-efforts of BNP, the party will have to take its responsibility.
