KAZIPUR (SIRAJGANJ) Correspondent: Two vital bridges, constructed to connect the inhabitants of a remote char area with the mainland, have been rendered useless for a long time, having sunk and tilted dangerously, cutting off a community from essential services and modern transportation.
The bridges, located in the Char Shalal Bholardiya area of Char Girish Union under Kazipur Upazila, are now barricaded as they are deemed completely unsafe for any form of traffic. The closure has suspended all vehicle movement, severing a crucial lifeline for the local residents.
Consequently, the people of this impoverished, hard-to-reach region have been left with no choice but to revert to a centuries-old mode of transport. The sole means of commuting and bringing agricultural produce to and from the fields is now the humble, horse-drawn cart, which trundles along the area's dusty, unpaved roads.
This situation has severely hampered daily life and economic activities, forcing residents to rely on an inefficient and time-consuming method for tasks that were once facilitated by motor vehicles.
