A bride was gang-raped by scoundrels on her way to her father-in-law's house from her father's house in Kolagaon area of Patia upazila in Chattogram on June 7. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two accused in the incident.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Md Mahmudul Hasan Mamun said that accused were arrested from different areas of the city on Thursday morning.
The two arrestees were identified as Jewel, 28, son of Forkan Majhi of Patia Kolagaon Union and Mintu, 33, son of Chattar.
Of them, RAB arrested Jewel from Katghar area of Patenga. Mintu was later arrested from Bakalia Rajakhali area. They are said to be the accused in the case filed on the charge of raping the bride. The other two accused in the case are Hannan, 32,
son of late Abul Hossain of Khair Ullah Saudagar's house in Kolagaon union and Montu, 30, son of Badsha Miah of Azizul Haque member of the same union.
RAB-7 Assistant Police Super Kazi Mohammad Tareq Aziz said a bride was gang-raped by scoundrels on her way home from her home with her husband on June 7. The scoundrels tied up the husband and raped the bride. The bride and her family did not tell anyone about the incident for fear of public embarrassment. Later on June 14, he filed a case against four people at Patiya police station.
Kazi Mohammad Tareq Aziz said that the RAB launched an operation to arrest the accused. Two of them were arrested from Katghar in Patenga and Bakalia in Rajakhali on Thursday morning. An operation is underway to arrest the other accused.
